My goal is to help committed riders love their bikes more.

I’m Local

I live, ride, and work right here in the Cobourg area. Most of the bikes I service belong to people I ride with, or who are part of the local cycling community. That matters to me. It means working on bikes that are used regularly, maintained with care, and relied on for real riding—not just occasional use. There’s a level of trust that comes with that. When I service a bike, I know I’ll likely see that rider out on the road again—and that’s exactly how I like it.

This is a small, relationship-based service, built around a shared appreciation for well-functioning, well-maintained bikes.

Always learning

My interest in bicycles goes well beyond riding—it’s an ongoing pursuit of learning. I regularly take mechanic training courses and complete technical modules from component manufacturers. Bike technology continues to evolve, and I enjoy keeping up with it. The more I learn, the more I appreciate the precision and care required to do things properly. I take pride in doing careful, detail-oriented work—especially on bikes that are already well cared for and ridden regularly.

It’s not about the money

Randy’s BikeFix is my post retirement pursuit following a career in nuclear inspection—where attention to detail and doing things right were simply part of the job. This isn’t a volume business. I work out of a small, home-based workshop and take on a limited number of bikes by appointment only. My focus is on doing work I enjoy, on bikes that are a good fit, and providing a level of care that’s hard to find in a busy shop environment.

A cyclist first!

I’m a cyclist before anything else. Road riding, gravel, touring—I understand what riders need because I live it. I know the difference a properly tuned bike makes, and how much more enjoyable riding is when everything just works.

My bike has taken me across Canada, the U.S., and to places like Cuba, Thailand, Jamaica, and Mexico. It’s how I explore the world—and why I care so much about keeping bikes running at their best. (An e-bike someday? Maybe. Not quite yet.)
