My goal is to help people love their bikes more

I live, work and play in Cobourg

I love riding my bike(s), and inspiring others to ride too! I’m the president of the Northumberland Hills Cycling Club where my personal mission is simply to make life-on-two wheels a pleasure. Community advocacy is near and dear to my heart. I volunteer at Cycle Transitions in support of their mission to provide DIY bicycle repair space to members. My cycling advocacy work extends into volunteering with Sustainable Cobourg’s Bicycle Action Committee where we merge our love of cycling with our collaborations on cycling infrastructure with the Town of Cobourg. Cycling Safety is a passionate endeavour for which I trained as a CanBike Instructor, qualifying to deliver safety training to people of all ages. Safe cycling principles are in my DNA.

I’m a trained mechanic

My love for the bicycle extends into a quest for knowledge that’s relentless, and ongoing. When there’s an immersive Bicycle Mechanic training course, I take it. If there are training modules from parts manufacturers, I am in! And if the answer eludes me, I search until it finds me. The more I discover the more I understand that being a bicycle mechanic is an evolving industry that’s exciting and motivates me to stuff my brain.

It’s not about the money

Randy’s BikeFix is my post retirement pursuit after a career inspecting for the nuclear power industry (inspectors don’t take short cuts!). I’m interested in quality not quantity and for that reason I operate by appointment only. I work out of my home-based workshop. It’s small but mighty. Should you happen to come by, you’ll take note—I love what I do!

I’m a cyclist too!

Road biking, mountain biking, bicycle touring—I understand the needs of cyclists because I live it. My bicycle is my tool for seeing the world and it has taken me to far away places like the USA, Cuba, Thailand, Jamaica and Mexico to name a few. Some day when I want to take it a little easier, I'll consider an e-bike—but I’m not there yet!
